CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON

AKA:  Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - The Game

Year: 2004    Reviewer: Phil Mills

Considering the success of the film and the fact that it featured martial arts, it seemed almost inevitable that 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' would eventually be made into a video game.  Sadly though, rather than deviate from the typified fighting game formula, this game  is nothing more than an extremely repetitive and very one dimensional beat 'em up.  Visuals are nothing new with very bland level design meaning that after playing for a short time you feel as though you have seen it all before.  The handheld version follows suit and maintains the poor standards in gameplay as well as demonstrating extremely outdated graphics (even by GBA standards). Essentially, this could really be any one of a million other titles with the 'Crouching Tiger..' name pasted on.
